Alternate Search Engines For More Privacy

The company that runs Qwant is based in France and gives me more honest results instead of the corporate forced ads disguised as search results from Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo

MetaGer is based in Germany

Startpage is basically google without the tracking and storing of all your results.

MoJeek is its own search engine that does not use results from google, bing or other search engines.

Here is another one: Swisscows.com

Swisscows runs its own server network and does not rely on any third-party infrastructure. Its data center is located underground in the Swiss Alps and is protected by Switzerland’s strong privacy and data retention laws. None of its infrastructures is located inside the EU or the US.

It also doesn’t use cookies or other tracking technologies and states it won’t create user profiles. SwissCows is adamant that “we do not know who you are”. So, your IP address, browser information, and device information remain private.

Hell yeah another one to add to my list, Thanks @Oldjoints . I have trust issues with the big named search engines. I always use multiple search engines to find what I am seeking.

You can incorporate anonymous Google results if you aren’t getting enough results with brave alone. I think they’re still early in the development

‘Yandex’ works like Google did 15 years ago, no idea about privacy.

A privacy search engine is not the best approach as a search engine is just one tool of the web. The goal should be to be as private as possible at anytime.
This can be implemented as follows:

  • Use Firefox or any other browser which supports the automatic deletion of cookies and other offline data.
  • Use a Firefox or any other browser which support anti fingerprinting plugins. These plugins change the Useragent, Hardware and Font-Details to make it impossible to get tracked by these data.
  • Don’t use social-media of any kind.
  • Change the own IP via VPN.
  • Deactivate IPv6 on your computer as this IP could be asked by a third party software (or your own browser you use)

Firefox is compromised do not use firefox use Brave Browser and a VPN. Even then the Governments and Corporations will still track everything you do.

my son uses opera and i used to, haven’t looked into anything except firefox lately. but i don’t try to go private. iceweasel for the win if you want privacy. the builtin one on slackware is pretty good for privacy, forgot what it was. but those are all browsers not search engines. my bad.

Im trying to make my own search engine, there are a lot of tutotials around the internets.
