Cheap LED Strips : A Viable Alternative

Having a hard time finding plugs. I need a 5pk but amazon wont have it shipped till January 27th.

Nema 5-15p 18awg should be enough for a single 240w no?

I thought everyone had a pile of these; I think every 110v device I own with a removable cord has them.

18g should be fine for one, yes.

Plug as the plug going into the outlet? Get that at your big box store. I used this to connect the mean well driver, it too is 14 gauge.

Heatsink to T-track Mounting Ideas?
So far I got:
The Non adjustable WAY :unamused:
Inside corner mount bracket- 4336 Keystone Electronics | Hardware, Fasteners, Accessories | DigiKey
drill and tap 1each on opposite sides of sink to T-track
OR drill and tap and countersink up through the sink (LED side) -to- drill and taped hole in T-track.
OR some other fixture utilizing the T-track for adaptability?
This T-track is an oversized beast for mounting such a low profile piece of hardware(sink)
Is there an easier way to do this?
All thoughts welcome!!

Grace and Peace
Iggy

Its a custom job a little fabrication and ingenuity should get it done!!
Going to start drilling some holes, 99,98,97…

Mounting them thermally? Double sided thermal transfer tape.

It makes more sense to have the heat sinks closer to the led’s metal core, In my opinion. Admittedly have nothing to back it up though.

Yes this is what I need. And no I dont have a stockpile of them lol

These came in yesterday and I have my wagos and waterproof connectors coming in tomorrow.

Will have all weekend to build.

My HLG light sold.

Do yall use waterproof 3 pin connectors on the DC side?

In all my builds ive used on AC side only because I have the ballasts mounted to the unit itself. But i got an 8 pack for cheap and have 2 do I got enough for the DC side

You could use connectors if you chose, problem comes in you should ensure cable length is still even as possible.

Although you don’t need 3 pin, 2 is fine, automotive wiring things can be used for cheap sourcing, I like waterproof bullet crimp connectors.

This is what I picked up

You can get them just about anywhere like Home Hardware or Canadiantire

This is more of what I would chose, but the only reason you couldn’t use the ones you have- rated for 25A.

Yah man got the thermal tape!! Just not quite there yet, still need to get the frame put together.
Working at it.

I mean, use thermal tape for the frame, between metal pieces. That is if you can afford the semi-permanent nature of it in your build, I could be misunderstanding you build entirely too.

Understood the tape method, but I am looking for this to last a little while.
I’d like to utilize the T-track for adjust-ability. Still looking at T-track hardware not finding the right one yet.

Building these with one centered spine and heatsinks mounted perpendicular.

LOoks like fun wish I had the space.

Sorry, I’m still trying to figure why you’d want to adjust the heatsinks.

I read somewhere on another forum all them guys where using t nutz to assemble the light heat syncs to frame website called tnutz.com u slide those inbetween the two heat sinks gives it a sturdy finish

Future Proof?
2 yrs down the road the next best LEDs come out and I just got to have them.
I don’t have to drill a thousand new holes. HaHa

Yah seen that and I like the concept. I was unable to get the heatsinks they use.
OUTOFSTOCK as usual. But I have some parts to repurpose. Waste not want not, Yah?

What tools do you have available? You could make a t nut theoretically with a mitre saw and aluminum bar. Might have to file finish to get it running smooth though… More PITA than it’s worth maybe.
