Yes it is a simple terminal Bus Bar type connector in a water resistant box, after you posted I decided to just hard wire the connection with solder and heat shrink tubing.

Trying to get my temps down a little by using LEDs, I can see a ton of savings already also. Less power consumption, No additional A/C or humidifier. Already very impressed with the quality and output. Temps running steady 85f, perfect, loving it.

Don,t like the cheap pulley hangers , will swap them out with some marine parts(Brass and SS) after this set. They feel real weak and are hard to use in my setup. I need to be able to operate the hangers just inside the door.

That’s looking massively solid and efficient. :sunglasses: :+1:

I found the hangers to be PITA to adjust too, especially the back ones.
Let me know if you come up with something better.

I cut the carrabina off the end of the line, buy a long boot lace and tie the carrabina back on the bootlace and the other end to where I cut the carrabina off. Run it over the top cross poles of the tent or hook’s on my ceiling. Then you can adjust the one end by the door and the other end self adjusts as the cord runs over the hooks or bars as you level the light.

Heavy weather sailor habit.
10 kilos of screws to hold down 30grams of diodes? Haha

Don’t want my plants to get creamed on the account of cheap plastic parts, they are too precious to me .
Looking at inexpensive parts for rigging these lights better, (someone already has this worked out, ya) I been away from the indoor scene 10+yrs.(getting up to snuff with all the new goodies!!)

Checking lux on these and my numbers are much lower than your post indicate.
3500k Gen2 (cri80?) vs. 2700k Gen3 cri90, like only 40000lux @ 20". I’ll map it out when this set is done, Just cuz.

It’s seems when you work in an industry you always overbuild at home! I work on lights and sound, I wouldn’t say you overbuilt- looks like something I’d trust over my plants. When I rig a light, if it falls people get hurt. Don’t see why you wouldn’t give your plants the same courtesy!

What is it that you used to mount the strips to?

Heatsinkusa.com 1" profile cut(free) to 24" long.

These may be on the heavy side for a tent, not sure never used one, but you have solid support in your room and you already spent a fair amount on parts, maybe up grade your frame with some alum. angle so they last thru warranty, (which is 5yrs.?)
It’d be a shame to see your efforts fail and/or fall apart mid way thru the best grow
of your life.

Semi-hypothetical question… if I wanted to light two 24inx10in spaces with one driver for veg/clone/seedlings, what should I use? The space can be expanded to 24x12, but if I do end up doing this I have about 41 inches total width. Id like to keep around 5 sq. ft. in the flower chamber. Overall the cab I’m converting has about 6 2/3 sq. ft. and 62" of height with slight modification, or 52" without.

You’ll likely be more than covered with an XLG-240-h… get the AB version if you want to hook up a dimmer to it externally. You won’t be able to dim the two different grow spaces individually tho, you’ll need two drivers for that apparently.

If only wanting to light those two spaces “4ish sqft total” for veg/clones a XLG-150 will do the job

Thanks for the reply! I want to try and convert it to 3 spaces total. Two roughly 1x2’ stacked and a 2x2.5’. Ill use one of the 1x2 for mothers, the other for clones and seedlings. Either I’ll run a 240 for the whole space or a 200 for the flower space and another 150 for the 2 veg spaces. I was thinking either the 100 or 150 (exact sq ft is 3 1/3’) for the veg spaces.

the 150 would allow you to flower in the veg spaces if you wanted, and always better to over spec than run short realistically >=35w/sqft will get us there.

Finally just starting to get to my build now:

First light framed up (22”x22”), still thinking about how I might attempt a decently clean wiring job:

Oh man, screw my wiring on this first build lol

How bad do any of you guys think it is to have wires touching heatsinks?

@GnomeyByNature
Get you a couple of wire clips from hardware store, tuck in your wire and rivet them right on the back of your sinks. Look on the back of mine.
Will clean that right up and you should be good to go.
Looks real good man!!

Thanks man, I’m gonna have to search for yours and see what it looks like… having a lil bit of an issue with getting it to light up right now. Not sure if it is the potentiometer hooked up wrong or what. Do we hook up to the 2 and 3 terminals on the pot or a different combo?

*nevermind, it’s not the pot…

*woot, got it! Had the +/- reversed on the dc side, thankfully the driver has protection for that :slightly_smiling_face:

Here are some updated pics as well:
