Where do you put the sensor at in the fabric pot? We use supersoil and are trying to figure out where the best spot would be.
So far it looks like mid 20s from the top is an OK spot, but it seems like some can still be pretty wet at the bottom and others aren’t. I figure there must be a more accurate placement.

Ahhhh. Was wondering why there were 3 frequency ranges. Makes sense now.
The phone app also only works if you are connected to the local wifi network the GW1000 is on?
I can use the website and login to view from any network? Just tryinf to verify im understanding correctly.

Yes, you can log on and view your levels from anywhere. I’ve never used the app, only the site.
The gateway needs to be on for any of it to work. It’s what the sensors report to.

Yes. Local wifi only. The phone app is required for gateway setup, adding and managing sensors, etc. Also does basic sensor display.
The app also checks the gw1000 firmware on startup. If a newer version is available, gives the option to upgrade the firmware with a single click.
Yes.
Web access. Anytime anywhere anydevice. As long as the browser can display the ecowitt web interface.

Whats the web interface look like?
Are the soil sensors worth it? Seems like most of the posts here people are having issues with placement

Might be able to help with the moisture sensors. I’m not using them.
There are a few web interface screen shots early in this thread.
I’ll post a few more soon.
Here’s the dashboard. Showing detail graph for the gw1000 gateway in my garage/lung room.

It’s a good indicator for sure.
Im getting ready to try some sips out, so they may be moot for me.

Does the app require location services to be turned on? Do you have to register and be apart of the a cloud app service?

If you want the web dashboard you will need to create an account on their cloud. Free.
There are growers who successfully collect and massage the data using open technologies.
@SuperiorBuds
I doubt the web based dashboard interface (mobile or PC) requires location services, but I have not confirmed.
