The American Pawpaw fruit is the only indigenous North American passion fruit still surviving. It evolved with the extinct Giant American Ground Sloth who ate of it’s fruit and propagated it’s seed from Canada to Mexico.
Now, pawpaw patches exist only in small wet parts of the American Midwest and south where people choose to care about it.
