i wonder if the inspiration for the look of the predator (and their helmets) came from those lobsters. probably some paranoia inducing sativa was involved too 
I believe a lot of inspiration comes from under the waves, considering 90% of the world has never seen most of it.
Take Avatar for example. I can give you dozens of examples of “inspirations from the reef” with the jungle on Pandora. (Makes sense, James Cameron is known for his love of the oceans). Most obvious ones are when Jake is running and “tapping” plants that retract. They look JUST like feather dusters and act like them too. Or the bio-luminescence from their footsteps. Lots of others too
