Holy shit it’s sad how this just slapped me in the face. This used to be the norm until my state decided it would save the world by banning bags. Haven’t seen this previously common sight in awhile now.
Ahh…it’s for the better. You’ll still see those things hanging out of trees and floating down rivers/lakes oceans for the next 100 years.
It’s for the better if you don’t live in the state that banned them! 
The problem is we either all do it and actually make an impact or spots here and there do it and it barely makes a difference while being incredibly inconvenient and annoying.
I use the self checkout to grab extras for cleaning the cat litter pans.

The remains of 10 mummified crocodiles found under the remains of a Byzantine-era dump. The linen bandages that would have wrapped the bodies had been eaten away by insects, allowing the researchers to identify two species - Crocodylus niloticus and Crocodylus suchus.
