I was part of a duo after high school. I played electric bass, palindromic Bob played guitar. We billed ourselves as Bloody Stool. We were aiming for wedding/bar mitzvah/anniversary parties. We didn’t get as much work as we would have liked.

No kidding? How funny is that! I usually wouldn’t think of those two artists in the same brain thread (not that I really know Avril Lavine songs). The song I was thinking of is “Walk Through the Bottomland,” about two people who are opposites. They could be those bugs.
