i didn’t mean delete it, just pointed out the correction. do they even make sniper bullets? i’ve never heard of them, but i don’t look for them either. i’ve heard of match grade bullets for shooting competitions. they just used regular ones for the snipers in my old unit. i got to take one home for the weekend once, a stoner 7.62mm. that was fun but i’m not a sniper by any means.
They do make match ammo for the military, standard ball ammo doesn’t meet the requirements for consistent 1in grouping or under at 100yds. For the special units, they may even request custom loads to account for the environment they will be using them in (elevation and temperature effect muzzle velocity, and that really matters at long distances). Generally, a 7.62 nato (308win) will be supersonic for just over 100yds, 338 and bigger would have a longer supersonic range.
