Where do dark thoughts fit into it? Does it even dark matter? Does it take dark energy to think dark thoughts? So much of the unknown is unknown…

Yes, it’s true that if you pay your electric bill, you’ll get the light light, but not the dark light, since the light light isn’t simply the absence of said light. Of course, we don’t know what exactly what dark light is and can’t look at it since that requires light light.
