1956 John Deere âField Flyerâ - After success with the relatively mild Farm Roadster, the more radical elements in John Deere management thought there might be a market for a more extreme âhayseed hot rod,â not that they ever called it that in a brochure. Tractor tires made sure it rarely got stuck, and the high-torque tractor motors made sure the Flyer could get from one end of the field to the other in nothing flat. For hot rodders in rural areas, it was a good alternative to the Deuce coupes that had to stay on pavement, and the closed cabin made sure no one got thrashed by corn stalks!
