SolStrip LED lighting: Product info and announcements

Thanks for the response and those are awesome numbers , the high output fluorescents put out about 5000 lumens at 54 watts a peice. So my 8 bulb fixture is averaging 35,000 lumens using 432 watts. I ask because the replacement led tubes that can be used in t5 fixtures average about 3500 lumens. In comparison those solstrips are all around much more efficient, espp when you co sider bulb replacement. If I somehow stumble into some cash I will be building a 10 strip setup, two racks 5 strips each. Thank you for the time you take answering everybodys questions.

All my Meanwell drivers are run on almost 250v and are years old and going strong.

The best HO fluorescents are less than 50% as efficient as SolStrips. Put another way, SolStrips deliver more than twice the light per watt as HOs:

SolStrip (Samsung LM561C diode) efficacy: 181-212 lm/w
T5 HO fluorescent efficacy: 60-85 lm/w

That’s what I was realizing when doing the math, 600 watts in solstrips would far out perform the best hps. I’ll be building a set up when I can afford, prob in the spring

What was the issue and solution? I’m sure someone else will be glad to find the answer here!

it was a silly wiring issue as its the first time using South African plugs. super simple fix. I was thinking of using two 100w floodlights in the 4000k cct. What do you think? its just for assistive lighting.

i literally just needed to switch a couple wires arround. a friend of mine took the x and even though i warned them his wife and him were looking at the light when they turned it on, he said it took ten min for their eyes to go back to normal . we don’t have a grid of reference for this quality of light.

Do I need one driver per strip , if not how many strips can one driver handle ?

I calculated the real par efficacy per watt of the SolSheet X in it’s 3 most common configurations based on the par readings (Par Map) provided by SolStrip:
.
SolSheet X X2-400-3500K (X5), HLG-185H @ 245w @ 12"inch height

Average PPFD = 348.87 multiplied by the surface area in which the par readings were measured in this case 4x4 = 16 ft2 = 1.48m2 (it only works with metric measurements)

348.87 x 1.48m2 = 516.33 (PPFD x Area)

Now 516.33 this figure has to be divided by the wattage used in the measurements you took. Which in this case is 245w!

516.33 / 245w = 2.10PPFD per Watt or 2.1ppfd/w

SolSheet X X2-400-3500K (X5), HLG-240H @ 285w @ 12" inch height

Average PPFD : 400.12 x 1.48m2 = 592.18

592.18 / 285w = 2.07PPFD/W

Solsheet X X3-400-2700K/5700K (X3) HLG-240 @ 280w @ 12" inch height

Average PPFD: 361.47 x 1.48m2 = 361.47

361.47 / 280w = 1.91PPFD/W

Busy with orders, and new things in the pipeline. Stay tuned for a big announcement in a couple of weeks.

@baudelaire- I’m looking at sol strips for a 3x3 space. On the website it says the sol sheet x is good for 2x3 in bloom. Whats your recommendation for 3x3? And should I wait to order til your big announcement?

The SolSheet X would work well in a 3x3 as long as you have reflective walls. Or the SolStix Rack 36" kit with 6 SolStix X2s and the HLG-240H driver. If you want to boost PAR a bit more, add a couple of red/blue X2 strips on two of the sides, run off a single CLG-100 driver.

And no reason to wait now, any new orders will benefit from the news…

Awesome! You saying w the solstix rack 36" kit id need 2 drivers if running the 6 sticks off the 240 driver, then the red/blues run off the 100 driver but they’re all on the same rack? So 8 total stix on the 3ft rack running off 2 drivers?

I was suggesting the red/blue strips as side lighting, hung off the tent walls. Hence the separate driver.
