Oh ya. The flattened spoons for more heat. Throw in a 2 liter pop bottle with the bottom cut off and inverted with ice inside and your ready to rock.

That used to be how most people smoked hash , or at least in the circles I was in lol
I was pressing the knives together on a chunk of hash a bit too hard, sucking that stream in, LOL, knives slipped and one slapped right onto my fuckin’ lip. When I get cold sores, that’s where I get 'em.
That was back in '86 or '87 - but I am still a good 5-10 years from a senior’s discount.
I’m only 32 but when @Weedstruck and I lived together there was one burner dedicated to the hot knives lol
Smoked both hash and oil that way and I did have a burned imprint of a butter knife end on my lip once as well. No cold sores tho.
Gatorade bottles worked best for us. The bottoms were easy to make holes in. Fill it ice and go!
We always had this technique for using glass bottles that always ended in shattered glass.

Before the plastic pop bottle, we all had a favourite ball bearing or nut&bolt. The rhythmic sound of trying to break that hole in the bottle…c-crack-crack…c-crack-crack ahh those were the days. Another lost survival skill lol
That’s how we made bottles for BTs (bottle tokes). You know, use a cigarette to dab a ball of hash onto and then hold it in the bottle. A pebble usually worked okay to make the hole. We’d usually go through 2 or 3 bottles before getting a good one - but there was no lack of empties in the dorm.
