This is Satie’s entire published works. It clocks in at just over 6 1/2 hours. There is, in the first 10 minutes, a running biographical narrative about him, his life and times. If you’re not familiar with his personal story, and it is a fascinating one, you may find it a quick and enjoyable listen/read.
I’m generally not all that enthused about “modern” classical music, and I consider most romantic composers and their music modern. Ditto, of course, avant garde composers. Satie is an exception. Perhaps it’s because he is so weird.
My wife is snoring. Does that count?
I watched this when it was first broadcast in 1979.
It was during the period in which I was becoming a devoted and ravenous jazz piano fan.
I attended my very last rock concert in 1975, as I was becoming far more enamored of jazz
fusion and jazz, and setting aside my affection for rock/pop music.
In retrospect, this transition and pursuit of jazz blossomed into one of my life’s great passions.
Hard for me to believe that was almost 50 years ago now.
Apologies for my tendency to become pedantic.
