So many thumbs up! Highly recommended by me! Thank you for posting this, @yardgrazer! Folks, just close your eyes and get taken away to a place you may have never been.
No likes, dad gum it.
the original is much better, in my opinion.
regards,
I want to thank @Calyxander for posting those two Tommy Emmanuel Collaboration videos! I know I will be returning to those time and again in the future. Iām seriously looking forward to exploring the entire Collaboration series! Those two posts brought so much joy to my heart!
At the end of the video I actually selected something that was suggested, something Iāve ever done before. I donāt like being sold to, but shit howdy am I ever thankful I did wait this time.
Right or Wrong is a jazz standard from 1921. Iām most familiar with the many Country/Western Swing versions. I love the song, and Iām telling you, this is some seriously beautiful guitar playing! You know, just two guys sittinā around in a guitar store. Yeah, right. Full disclosure, I donāt know who Kenny Vaughn is, but he is certainly a fine guitar player. That said, holy fuck, Tommyās leads are so subtly textured! Absolutely fantastic! Iām sure part of that is the guitars, but I believe thatās far less important than the skill.
Yes, Iāve chosen not to post any Western Swing versions!
This is Leon Redboneās cover, which unlike most other later recordings, includes the verses, not simply the chorus.
Honestly, in my not particularly humble opinion, they all pale in comparison to this guitar shop version, which may have been impromptu, given at least Kennyās guitar still has a price tag. As I say, I think this may be my new favorite version which is amazing to me cuz Iām usually all about the vocals, particularly Tommy Duncanās. But thisā¦ Holy fuck, Tommy Emmanual is such a monster!
