The Peter Gunn show was a first in it had a suave main character and Henri Mancini composing a very cool jazz theme that fit the show. Pete often spent time at a dive called Mothers where a cool jazz band was either in the B.G. or they just let them swing. Sometimes Pete’s girl friend would sing a tune with the band. It was considered very hip for the time, still is really. The opening theme music has been used in countless modern records and movies.
