“is this trip, really necessary?” Well, of course it is. Describing a “trip” or why to take it, is not easy because the experience is far different from everyday life in the USA. Metaphor is probably the best way and still can’t cover it. It’s called acid because it cleans away the everyday dross and many of the internal “walls” we develop to protect us through our lives. This can be illuminating or frightening depending on your environment and mind set. If you can relax, not be interfered with, maybe soothing music, colored pencils and paper at hand. If done well,it does expand consciousness, which as Kesey pointed out is what they’re really afraid of.
Note: I wouldn’t take LSD today unless i knew who made it and knew that person was competent and not in it for the money and even then I’d wonder if I need to do it.
