Too far ahead of their time to be pop or cult or whatever. Prob the most free band slinging it out beyond hoping it returns with something helpful or orbits around long enough for sense and changes to be made.

Freak Out was one of the first two LPs I ever bought as a kid. It was 1966 and I was at my local record store with the intention of buying Marvin Gaye Greatest Hits, which had been released in 1964. So I’m pawing through the records when I come across this record with the weirdest fucking cover art I had ever seen. These weird looking guys, the one in the bear coat (or whatever it was), they’re all in your face hot pinks and general bizarreness… I had to fucking have it. I wore it out. And the next copy I bought.
