For anyone familiar with the song Country John, this will be a treat. This previously unreleased version was recorded to be a single. Iβll also mention that the album this is from, Complete Warner Recordings, includes a bunch of live material intended for a live album that was never released. Highly recommended by me for Toussaint fans.

I used be against Delβs kind of music. But then I grew up and realized the unique sound is a real part of the USA and they do it with honest class and professionalism. Now i sing harmony along with their music (but i canβt reach the high notes anymore.)
I grew up in Appalachia and got into the jam band scene in my teens. There was a microbrewery that had a bluegrass night. Players got to drink for free and they had a big back porch, so it became a big weekly event. It was on a Wednesday, which became the equivalent to my friday night for years.
We also went the night before when there was an open mic that was more of an open jam session. We started going when we were still in high school, but played every week, so eventually the bartenders started serving us.
Those bluegrass dudes has the dankest weed back then. They would never sell it, just smoke you out really hard. I would hangout and listen while blazing and nursing beers the entire night. It was heaven.
I got back into bluegrass really heavily about year ago after going down an outlaw country rabbithole. Tony Rice made me buy a Martin guitar.
