I saw her live, I think in 1968, as a solo at a small club called Ledbetter’s in Los Angeles. It was on Westwood Blvd. She was still active in the Stone Ponies. Biff Rose opened. Linda was a known quantity. Biff, however, was quite a different story. For my ears, he was the more memorable act. My guess is, most folks who were there would disagree. I think he’s an outstanding songwriter, but you have to pay attention to what he’s saying. His would never be categorized as background music. His music can be a challenge to listen to. I think it kills.
