The Mars Volta were crazy live at the beginning there around when Deloused came out. Insanely good, and I remember them doing Ashes to Ashes, just incredible. They got way tighter over the next couple years, but the energy of those first few, wow.
This is from a little later, but still one of my favorite songs off that album

Yea they’re the only band Cedric and Omar did that I didn’t catch live. I was obsessed with at the drive in and when the Mars Volta hit I said wtf is this? and wrote them off…bad move. By the time Antemasque came around I realized what I missed out on but it was too late. Favorite Antemasque song even though the whole album is great.
And you can’t go wrong with lopsided from back in the day
