After doing a bit more looking into Kanyeās new album apparently heās releasing it on this stem player device. You can break up any song into stems and remix them on the fly. Very very interesting listening techā¦ Iām curious to see how it fleshes out.

I always felt horrible for the contestants when they fall into that waterā¦ I recall the start of the season it didnāt look that badā¦ but it was obvious by the end of season that the NEVER changed the waterā¦

As much as I really dislike most things about Kanye, I really like that idea.
I donāt think itās the same platform, but Nine Inch Nails did that a few times too. Last time I remember was about 10-15 years ago, but I havenāt kept up with them too much in recent years.
Love the open source aspect of it.

At some point he had substance, but he gave it away in favor of marketing, merchandising, catering to rich people and exploiting fans.

Everything is folk art. Influenced and built on what came before it.
The NIN stuff was FREE. Truly open source.

To clarify, I think itās important for artists to make a living, but the shit he pulls is just stupid. $200 for an albumā¦$200 for socks at a āchurchā serviceā¦partnering with televangelists.
I know thereās people who pay it, but fuck, I have no respect for that.

The NIN stuff for free was crazyā¦ Trent is the best. And the Donda release seems to be more about these stem players than the album itself in the long run.
