I’ve somehow managed to never see Charlie Hunter in concert, but he’s great! He rocks that 8-stringed instrument (5 for guitar, 3 for bass). In the 90s he released an interesting album where he reinterpreted Bob Marley’s “Natty Dread” album in a jazz context:
Side note: Charlie Hunter was part of an earlier incarnation of Garage a Trois (with Skerik on sax and Stanton Moore on drums) that maybe wasn’t quite as out there as the clip I posted above…
