CSI TK x JBs Perfect Triangle seed run!(Closed)

Also i should mention number 6 is in a smaller tote and not a 5 gallon bucket like the other males. I’m wondering if a smaller space for the roots to grow would have anything to do with it dropping pollen faster.

Purpose changes everything.
If it was a preservation run, I’d include all plants except for the serious mutants.

BUT, if it is a normal seed run then yes, I think I would cull #6.
Actually, correct me if I’m wrong, but #6 showed the earliest and is the tallest? That’s 2 strikes against.
You have 7 males? I would cull that down to 2 and keep the best three females.

{edit} Just keep telling yourself, ruthlessness is a virtue in a breeder…

3 Males and 4 females

maybe I should just cull #6 then you make a good point on it also being the tallest.

wondering what @JohnnyPotseed thinks about all of this…I know he has tons of experience breeding. maybe he can provide insight on what to look for with male keepers???

sorry to bug you Johnny but your opinion would be greatly valued :cowboy_hat_face:

I always look for the most vigorous, healthiest male(s), to collect pollen from.
That’d be your keeper(s) cuz…
Like Gpaw said, law of the jungle should apply here
Keep the best and toss the rest…

Unless you’re going for an open pollination? then it’s ‘the more the merrier’ lol

There again lol it’s like @Gpaw says…cull any mutants!

3-4 days

some plants are drinking the buckets dry in that time while others are not but I just change them all at the same time anyways.

me “watering” is just filling a empty 5 gallon bucket and lifting a plant out of a old bucket and putting it in the new bucket lol. So you could say im also flushing the system pretty frequently

The packs im using are expensive but they arnt really rare by anymeans. My 1st thought was to do a fully open pollination but being a little selective is probably a good idea.

The male I’m considering culling is the 1st one to drop pollen and it has also stretched more than the others.

that would leave me with 2 males to cross with 4 females. Should be plenty of pollen to go around i’d think.

@JohnnyPotseed do you ever note which male is dropping pollen first? does that make a difference? Or are you just looking for the biggest smelliest dog in the group?

The two are usually one and the same. I have seen variations, but the first to drop pollen is usually the biggest, healthiet and sometimes the stinky-est lol

You will still have plenty. Your easily going to have thousands of seeds.

This old timer told me, one male can easily pollinate 20 females…hence the sayin little pollen goes along way :man_shrugging:
