Electricity bill too high?

That’s a good point, didn’t even think about that! Hopefully the changing legal landscape has eliminated this type of thing in most of the country. With smart meters, I believe they can see almost every measurable metric imaginable, since the grid is automated (semi?) and load balancing. Virtually every measurable metric has to be measured, recorded, and saved for future/potential evaluation and optimization, I think probably down to the house level, though no idea how that data is stored or managed, or for how long.

around 0,37 dollar cents per kwh. not heating with electricity.

but if you exceed 6000 kwh per year in my country, then in the network module of your meter will be put a sim card. This network module will send every month the usage data to the company who sells you the electricity and to the company who provides the grid.

But the network module is also able the send daily or in 15 minute intervals. If you consume over 10000 kwh per year, the company is obliged by law to take the information in 15 minute intervals.

I can write you an algorithm in an hour which will take your usage profile and tell with a certain probability if you are a grower. Especially if your electricity is documented for years and if in future you automate and use artificial intelligence and surveil more and more, then I really like to avoid a meter which has a sim card and has much more surveilling possibility than a meter without a sim card. You are not going to get rid of the sim card anymore if it is there.

Do your meters have a network module with a sim card?
How often these meters are sending somewhere?

what is a town assessor? What is the servers for? Are they actually in use or are they just cover up?

tell me, how is it possible that this guy is tapping the grid without getting busted? He is not growing, but he is heating his house in the winter. He has a couple of oil filled radiators in his house. As far as I know such a radiator goes up until 2400 watts. And he heats his whole house with them. At least four are in constant use. So if it is cold, that would go up to 10kw??? He does that already more than five years, maybe even ten.

That guy has an old analogue meter.

I know they have to calculate a certain percentage of losses when the electricity goes from the power station to the house.

But I just cannot imagine how that guy, who lives even in a small village, can pull that off without getting caught???

The town in many jurisdictions, every 7 years or so, will evaluate all properties for improvement so that they can increase property taxes … since taxes are based on the property valuation. One can refuse this but the draconian laws in this state allows them to make assumptions without recourse … meaning they’ll max it out. In order to have recourse in the event of an improper assessment, property owners have little option than to allow the town assessor to evaluate the property for improvements.

Private purpose.

Town Assessor = The Taxman

we are at 100% assessment here but they cannot come on the the property

unless you let them and not in the home again unless you allow them

the assessor here has worked for New York State tax and fiance

and retired with a very very nice pension

now works in three different towns part time and does not live in any of them

talk about double dipping

We pay around 7 cents per kW/h. And even that seems to add up, lol.

Yes, explained above. There is no recourse in this state (legislative) if they assess your home higher than it’s worth and if you were to refuse to allow the assessor to examine the property for improvements. e.g. taxes are based on the property value including all improvements (such as a remodeled kitchen or bathrooms). Otherwise, they’ll value the property based on their ‘estimation’ of unseen improvements which generally means higher taxation. This is a communist state.

When we bought our house here in Canada we paid 200,000 for it, 2 months later the tax assessment was for the value of 248,000. I called them and said the house was just bought 2 months ago, for 48,000 less than your estimate. After a lot of arguing, they lowered it to 220,000 they said their value was based on 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a finished basement, I said, you have 1 bathroom, 2 bedrooms too many and the basement is totally un unfinished. They asked if they could inspect the house to check, and I said, no problem. They never came, I queried the new estimate of 220,000, as the house is only as valuable as it can be sold for, and they said, the extra 20,000 was for the potential the property had, lmao complete crooks. I said you could apply that principal to anything, so surely it only applies when and if that potential is reached. No answer from them whatsoever.

So 4 years later I finished the basement, added 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms an office and grow/alcohol room. Plus a workshop in the back yard.

I haven’t told them, if they feel it’s ok to screw someone over, then that’s good enough for me to use the same ideal. I guess they will find out when we sell the house.

absolutely screw the tax man over. they do it to you as a matter of fact. had one guy drive on my property (big property) un announced to snoop around. I told him to leave. they added a shed to my taxes. They always try and add increases every year… and they never reduce it during depression (2009)

Actually I just remembered they did come around one afternoon to check the workshop out, as they had seen the planning permission. I hadn’t built it as I changed the size and position, wife wasn’t happy where I wanted it lol. I was out and my daughter said I decided not to build it. So they left, and I re applied and built it 6 months later, no one has been back lol.

I started using an electrical sauna oven and I really liked it. So I guess I can forget staying in the kwh limits and I probably let the power company install a sim card in the meter.

Hell yeah, get ‘em shadey. There are firms in the US that can represent you basically as lawyers to smack them around. Might have to pay some $ but take a lot back from the ol’ tax man.
