Frankengraft experiment

Pretty sure it’s the same stuff. I have it for the same reason.

My sterile technique sucks donky butt. 100% contamination rate back in the day. I would have had better luck cultivating fungus if I was trying to breed bacteria.

The successes.

It’s important to match root-stock and scion diameters. I think lignonization (is that a word?) might interfere the way it does with clones.

I have fantasies of complex interlocking cuts but in the interest of KISS I slit the RS down the middle and cut a matching wedge in the scion. Then tape them to lock out new air.

I think this will be an improvement:

Do you own an Aloe Vera plant?

I cut a section of an aloe leaf, and put the cut end of my clone, cuttings in it when making clones. I was wondering if that might help improve the success rate.

With its germ-killing properties - antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal - it’s an effective botanical that can be used as an antibiotic and disinfectant on the cut ends.

I don’t, but I know where to get one.

I wonder about pruning sealer but it’s not in my budget ATM.

You should be able to pick up a decent Aloe plant for $10, if you don’t abbuse it too much when you first get one, they self propagate, after the first year I had about 6 after 2 years, I have given loads away, and have 9 good size ones about 2 ft high. Good for adding to your plants water as well as cloning.

I got a flirty “I will bring one tomorrow” message within 10 minutes of my Facebook ask. We buy too many things in this culture.

When flirting gets serious.

I wonder what would happen if you grafted auto to photo or photo to auto…

Looks a little scraggly but it will soon fatten up.

Cool question. Gonna try a Blue Microverse x Wizard’s Apprentice (auto fem) next year. Will try if I get the skills down. I don’t want to stress the auto, they don’t always have time to recover, I hear.

The auto would probably need to be the root stock for anything beyond a fun experiment.

I plan to keep my post-bloom plants going as bonsai over the winter and graft everything to everything. Mom insurance. Wonder if an auto would like to live on. Do the genetics say die or just rest?

They all die after flowering unless you can get them to re veg, I have never heard of an auto re vegging.

Makes sense… And yet… What would it mean to have a post bloom Auto? Would its clock start over?

Well then you have what is an ever flowering plant, which is supposed to exist and you can get seeds for, if you have deep pockets. I think someone was trying to get some for a preservation run. A lot of people say it’s a con, but until you try you don’t know for sure.

Why on earth would someone with deep pockets ever want such a thing? I am going to go with probably not… until such time as my mind is changed…
OTOH, if auto flowers did reveg and branches with different start times were grafted onto a strong root stock… Or, maybe hops.

I’m on it! Send me auto seeds! But we have to wait for next year 'cause I don’t even have deep enough pockets for lights.

They make a garden cutting tool that does booth those male and female cuts think I saw it on a info mercial ! Nice diagram! Thought we was embarking on a stick figure porno scene for a bit there! Lol

I looked. Thought about DIY. Stem widths make it complex but not impossible. If you find the reference I am interested.
