Hey guys, how many of what kind of stamp(s) to send a normal thank you card (with a flip, obviously) from USA🇺🇸 to Canada🇨🇦? Looking for successful personal experience(s) from some of you frequent international senders…

I have:

first class forever stamps

“Butterfly” non-machinable (but I don’t know where they are exactly, so the forever’s would be better if they will get the job done) stamps

I can go to Post Office and get any other stamp that would be required.

My first international outgoing piece of mail…

Thanks In Advance,
Dirtron

Get a global and a post card stamp, I send 2 flips with a backer card in a 3x5 envelope regularly.

I like to make sure it has more than enough postage to make it regardless of weight

Not sure what you get in the USA bud. For me I have 3 stamp books. Canada, USA and International. I always use only 1 stamp. Canada for local, USA for USA and International for everything else. Never had a problem and I can fit 3 coin flips without getting near the weight limit.

EDIT: According to USPS site " Stamps for standard-sized letters and standard-sized postcards up to 1 oz start at $1.20 for all countries. However, prices for envelopes heavier than 1 oz, oversized, or unusually shaped is based on the destination country’s price group."

3 regular stamps or the global one

That’s why I add the post card stamp. Adds an extra .20 just in case

I can see that. Pretty lucky here as the 3 stamp books take care of all my needs without having to think about anything. I am well under weight with 3 coin flips so it’s just 1 stamp for me. Sadly today I moved up and went from buying a few books to rolls of 50 and 100 stamps  Apparently I am a small post office now, lol.

All the ‘packs’ I’ve sent to Canada, took only 1 international stamp. They would have 1or 2 coin flips and a couple had even more.
edit…also, just tell the post office ‘non-machine’ they stamp it then

edit 2 … That’s the one! the Global…1 is all it’s ever taken for me

It’s also all I’ve needed to send beans to @Abbbian & @Gugumelo in South America

I know for me the price increases from Canada $0.92 to USA $1.30 to International $2.71 . If I used international stamps for sending to USA I would be throwing away $1.41 per envelope. Just a thought.

We don’t have that option in the US lol they tell us for Canada we need 1 global or international

Fair enough. They charge us 3x the amount for parcels so I guess we both get it in the neck by the postal service. They should really change their corporate logo to a guy in a ski mask.
