They look well played too
Not sure why I am so happy to see that, but damn thatās great. Brings me back to my younger years heh.
lol I guess that makes me antique! I donāt know anything about that game! Never even heard of itā¦
I was a real nerd. I played star trek: the next generation the ccg.
My buddy had a plastic shopping bag full of them in the late 90s. I didnāt even realize he was into it but he wanted to sell them and I said teach me how to play it and if I like it I might buy them (which surprised even me cause that type of thing isnāt my bag). He taught me and I was down enough to buy them but he settled for me smoking him out heavily as payment. Within a week I lost interest completely
Here it is over 20 years later and my mother was cleaning out her attic and in the pile of my stuff she brought me was the bag of Magic cards. No ides if thereās a market for them but Iām hoping!
hmmmā¦ ok, I played pong a couple times, and I think tanks or something like that nameā¦ but didnāt get into things like my kids didā¦ Zelda and Mario, etc lol
You are one of the few people I have heard that played that as well. At one point I had a full Borg deck heh. Love me some good nerdiness!
I love MTG. Well old MTG. IMHO things started to fall off right after IceAge and FallenEmpires.
Used to rock a red burn deck, blue counterspell/control/millstone deck, and a overrun you with Thallids/saproling token deckā¦
Still play every now and then versus the wife, but thatās not much of a game . Just donāt tell her that!
If they are old-ish I can help you pick out the $$$ cards. May even be interested in buying them.
What about Pogs?
I donāt know what constitutes old in the Magic world but I would say I got them off him by 97 and they had already been relegated to a plastic shopping bag by then. So probably within a few years before 97.
The problem is going through them cause thereās a ton of them. Anything from that era I should be keeping an eye out for in particular?
Can you believe we were that dumb? I had a long ass sleeve or two with some pretty serious slammers.
If you lay a couple of them out and take a picture I can help you with the age. In the middle of the card on the right hand side above the text below the picture thereās usually a little symbol, that tells you what side they are from and thatās the age. However, the oldest base sets do not have this symbol (Alpha, Beta, 3ed Edition aka Revised, 4th Edition)
Like the āhorseshoe snakeā symbol in the S.Skeleton card pictured (upside down) above.
I had alot of them
The things you collect when your young.
But you want to be looking for an Aladdinās lamp symbol, a dark crescent moon symbol, a symbol with a horizontal bar and three vertical bars below it of descending size, or a horizontal scimitar.
Or cards with no symbol there but black borders (most have white border). Particularly if they have extra round corners.
I gotta figure out where I put the bag but Iāll try and get some pics today. Itās the perfect day for it here. Sunny and hot one second and loud ass thunder with sideways rain the next for the last 2 hours.
Random story I heard on a podcast years ago- someone on the podcastās buddy worked at some business that finalized the prints for one of the artists (the artist?) and was supposed to ship them to the company when they were done. He ended up swiping a bunch of them and selling them to people he knew who were really into it. So somewhere out there thereās a collection of artwork for cards that never made it to production cause of this guy.
The best part was when beany babies came around I could easily see how dumb that was and it didnāt occur to me that my pog collection was way dumber
Ok I wrote all that down so I donāt have to search back through the thread. Iāll take a look in a little bit.
If you do post a pic tag me, I donāt always read everything in this thread, sometimes I just skip down to the most recent posts, And if you do post a pic I donāt want to miss it!
You got it. I might just PM you them anyway unless anyone else in here expresses an interest in seeing them too.
