Hempies, mycco additions; yes or no?

Like the title says, should I add mycco innoculants or no? I’m using the element nutrients line on them (its basically jacks 321 made into a 2 part), but I havent been using the mycco+ because it is a hydroponic method. Should I start using it too?

I just put 4 more seedlings and a freakshow clone into hempies, so I’d figure I should use it now if I’m going to use it, just to build the root colonies. Tell me what to do wize OG ogres!

I don’t use them. I add a sterilizing agent to the water anyway, so it would be pointless.

In hydroponic media, there’s really no need for fungi, IMO. Sterile solves more problems than fungi can fix.

Thats what I was thinking too, and why I hadn’t been adding it

Never run hempies or beneficials…following with interest.

When I ran hempies I didn’t add any mycco innoculants because it’s flush to waste system…

Knowing what I know now about growing, I’d try it once just to satisfy curiosity…

In theory atleast it should work because the Microlife is eating nutrients (whatever hasn’t been washed away from daily feeding) but I’m not sure if the microbes need soil specific to be productive… we all use them with Sphagnum peat moss and it works beautifully…

Could/Should work the same in the Pearlite/Vermiculite (whatever your media is) should have plenty of surface space to house them…

Most Innoculants Are targeting root growth in general & that’s exactly what the Hempy is also doing.

IMO, I’d try it. You ain’t losing anything other then 1 Teaspoon of powder…

Ps. Just Google mycco+ and Yes you can & likely should use this in your hempies…

Cool!

I have an assortment of substrates. I started with a side by side of perlite/ verm 2:1 for the bottom 1/3 on 2 and only that mix for 2, the top 2/3 of the others were 2:1 coir: perlite. The ones with coco are way bigger than the pure perlite verm, so now I’m onto the next iteration of the experiment, using claytron in the bottom 1/3 in half and 2:1 perlite:verm in the rest, and comparing 2:1 coco:perlite vs 1:1:1 coco:sphgagum:perlite. I’m figuring out the way of doing hempies that works best for me lol, I should just call it passive hydro

Haha that’s exactly how I ended up with what I know now. I’ve done everything your doing now previously… I also called it Passive Hydro…

Great minds think alike.

I’ve always had issues with dwc, but I really want to grow some hydro and some soil, so I tried hempies and I’m in love. They are working just amazing, im going to set up a vertical grow using them. I also have mimosa hostilis and acacia acuminata, trying to grow these sacred trees faster. The hempies grow amazing roots and for the MH roots are what you want.

Lmfao man. My first grow ever was DWC and after 2yrs I gave up on it, moved to Hempys for a few more years & finally soil with bottled nutes, soil with diy / organic nutes, Soil Organic no till…

Never tired vertical farming tho…

Your right though, nothing I’ve done so far has compared to the growth I’ve got from Hempys.
I still treat my soil party cups like hempies haha.

I’ve done organic soil with bottles for a decade, but now I’m trying to break away from the bottle and do no till as well. I really want to be able to just ph my water and be done for my soil plants. Already the flavors and smells of my plants are as good ir better as any dispo herb, but I want it even better. I think no till with companion plants to enhance oils and terpenes is what’s going to do that for me.

But theres something about those beautiful, big rock dense hydro buds… I’ve never grown them. I have 1 dwc going now thats just a pain in my ass, tried it 10 years ago and failed repeatedly too. But the hempies I’m growing are just amazing. I feed them every 3 days and they are at least 3 times the size of the others I sprouted at the same time, and look amazingly healthy.

At the end of growing in a hempie, should I flush? Like ph water only for the last 2 weeks?

Nope. Not point. Your flushing everything when you water 10% / 20% anyways. Feed them plants right to the end for massive buds/growth.

I’ve found with Organic soil / No Till… personally I don’t need to PH, likely cause I only use bottled water, but I do plan to use tap water very soon with aquarium air pump for 24hrs first.

I liked using lava rock on the bottom up to the drain hole then straight coco. Kept the pots heavier for when the plant gets big. I think your hydroton will do the same!

So, my dwc is having issues, can I transfer it into a hempie?

I was in hempies for a long time and use to use extreme gardening mycos. Tried it on and off and I can positively tell you it did nothing but make my watering bucket hard to clean. Plants didn’t care one way or the other. I suspect the microbes got killed, never had root problems in my hempies wether I ran them or not. I did have great benefits though when I added an air stone to the bottom and set it up with a pipe for bottom watering. Plants loved that .

To me, it would seem pointless as there is no material for the mycorrhizae to break down and pump into the plant in exchange for its starches. With a hempy or hydro setup you want to keep everything clean and free of other organisms that could get out of hand.

I’ve never swapped from dwc to hempy with the same plant.
