if you have mylar up flat it shouldnt cause hot spots. but to be safe. you can get the reflective waterproof roof paint. its made for reflecting light from your house keeping it cooler. along with being waterproof its a win win. ive never used mylar because i have 0 patientsXD
Mylar is good I think… I’ve used it a lot and it never caused me any problems. Producers also came with some “diamond” version to the market which was guaranteed not to make hotspots. It was practically same mylar material but surface had rhombus embossment. The only problem was that it is really hard to clean it because dust creeps into crannies.
Nowadays tents are equipped with interior mylar-like wall so there is not much need to buy it separately …
I work in a furniture plant and we have some arborite (laminate) material that has brushed stainless steel on the face. I have been contemplating trying some out to see if it would reflect as well as my current white paint. The brushed surface would be great for dispersing the light. The only drawback is that it is quite pricey but very durable.
If affordable, Lumacept and Tetra Match are two extremely reflective paints from a company in the US. The downside is the price, $200.00/gal for the Lumacept and $180.00/gal for the Tetra Match. In a communication with a company rep, he stated that the reflectivity of the two was nearly identical, but the Tetra Match was designed for indoor horticulture. The Lumacept is for settings such as hospital rooms where strong ultraviolet c is used to kill disease organisms. Both reflect visible and uv light well over 95%.
