It sounds like that fire suppression system is only in the glass enclosed section that isn’t open to the public.
Another cool fact about that library (the Beineke), it has translucent marble paneling on the exterior walls that lets in filtered light.

Fun fact: Peter Weller, the actor who portrayed Robocop, is an art historian. I ran into him last fall at a convention (my gf is a history prof).
He got his PhD in 2014, and teaches at Syracuse.

I was watching “cunk on earth” and supposedly the titanic was the world’s first single use submarine! But unfortunately the atmosphere at the bottom of the ocean ended up not being breathable
