There’s a town in Northern BC that has some vintage and new totems poles and grave houses …Kitwancool I was passing through it about 20 years ago, and ended up hanging around all afternoon amazed that they were there.
Always wanted to go to Nan Sdins on the southern tip of Haida Gwaii…but its such a pain to get to. I’ve gone and sat in carving sheds watching masters carve…I love that stuff.
Heres a couple of masks I’ve bought over the years…the Killer Whale transformation mask is my pride and joy.
Thank you for posting both the masks, which are just so beautiful, as well as the link to the Kitwankul National Historic Site of Canada, et al. I was unaware of the site, but now that I know about it I’ll definitely be spending time there.
The non-political thing that makes me go hmmmm, is not having to concern myself about the police. there was break in next door to me so the police were asking me if I had hear anything. While they interviewed me we stood next to my very excellent growing plants.
Years ago my heart would have been pounding out of my chest.
