Non Political Things That Make You Go Hmmm.. *reborn* (Part 8)

I always wanted one as a kid but never had one. I was starting to get nervous about our first kid being on the way and I needed something to get lost in, so I went and got one. I built it, covered the wings with paper but didn’t lacquer it or anything. I took it out side and flew it a few times (this one had a crazy rubber band that would take like a minute to unwind) and then hung it up over the crib. It’s over my youngest ones bed now. :+1:

i was gonna let this one go until you put that line in it. that is also not a myth. at least in the us, when you earn more money, the amount you pay in taxes increases as the pay goes up, but only the amount extra. if you make 50k, they tax the first bit at a certain percentage, the next bit a little more, and so on. when you make more money, the more that you make gets taxed at a higher percentage. the myth part is that most folks believe that the entire amount is taxed at the higher rate, but in reality it’s incremental. for example, the married filing jointly is 10% up to 22k, 12% to $89,450, 22% $89,451 to $190,750, 24% $190,751 to $364,200, 32% $364,201 to $462,500, 35% $462,501 to $693,750, 37% over $693,750. so making 700k does not mean you pay 37% on the whole amount, but just on what is over ~694k. but you pay more taxes on that than you would on 50k.

as you can see, making more money in the us means paying more taxes. not sure what is going on with this discussion i’m done with it now. enjoy the weekend and have a great day.
