Peat Moss and Lime

Hello Farmers, I was just thinking about Peat base medium that is heavily mix with lime, is there really a need to PH the water. To my understanding lime is supposed to neutralize the soil.

Maybe I’m just overthinking it, or I could be just wrong what do you Farmers think.

As long as you are in the ballpark, pH wise, no need to change it. If your water is way off, you may consider adjusting it.

Water PH is around 8 so i was thinking do I need to lower the water PH or just use it straight from the tap

8 is a little high, you would probably get better results lowering closer to 6. That being said, it will still work fine as is, especially if you have very large pots.

I will lower it down to 6

If you add too much lime, it will raise the pH, I believe.

The question is how much is too much

Only the pH meter knows. :scream:

Test water / nutes going in, test the soil / medium / test the outflow.

Everything is looking good without PHing the water
