To be fair, in every game where Trey Flowers appeared to be making a difference for the Lions, the refs stepped in to call bogus hands to the face, holding, roughing the passer, facemask, etc. Real or imagined, they were enough to make the defense basically give up in each of those games.
But yeah, the Quinntricia regime liked to spend money on players who were past their prime or would never fit into the Lions offensive/defensive schemes. They basically let the Lions beat writers do the scouting for them and just hoped for the best when writing big checks.

Good evening Islanders,
Banging forward on the doors for Santo Domingo, cladding is 90% done, hardware is 90% done, finish hardware and install glass tomorrow.
And the ORNL Government Testing Lab in Nashville is FINALLY done, guys are gone from job site, tools are gone from the job site.
It was a logistic nightmare for the shop, 4 different systems were used on this project, and none of them were ever run complete. Bounced around due to masons, back ordered limestone, etc had me building sections at a time, so one day, it was rainscreen, next day 10” curtainwall, then 7” curtainwall, and it’s all multiple parts per system, so I had shit everywhere in my fab area.
It’s done, scrap runs have started, another one for the project wall.
