I’ve added poll to post above, please anyone who is interested in this feature vote Yes… Thank you!

Yep, notifications are temporarily delayed.

I’m aware of that… I’m re-generating all uploads including avatars with priority and this is sometimes too intensive on CPU and it postpones other background jobs like notifications. I’ve used more easy settings and notifications should be quicker now… (there is always some trade-off needed  ).

Exactly! Its not just trichomes. I use it on most all of my own posts, but also every time someone posts anything Im interested in - root porn, sick plants, wiring questions, plumbing questions etc etc etc.

I noticed when I try to quote someone in conversation, it deletes the quote automatically and says “edited” as I post it. Most of the time, but not all the time.

Yes I can confirm that. It happens when you completely quote the last post. In the case system knows that quoted text is redundant because you react directly to the post above yours.

@LemonadeJoe

Man I hate this not being able to zoom in. I really dont want to go back and edit ALL my previous posts so that every single picture is in a separate post, but many of those pics are useless to me if I cant zoom in all the way. Makes using this as a grow log far less than ideal for saving data to review down the road.

Sorry Joe, but I am a really unhappy camper right now. Its not just my grow log. I was going to offer some help to another grower today, but he posted several pics in one post and I cant see enough detail to even ask good questions.

If I have to download every single pic just to offer someone an opinion, that justt not going to happen. I dont have the time or energy to do that.

Hi @anon32470837, sorry to hear that… I’ll definitely get maximum zoom working, just bear with me, there are still tasks I need to do to finish this update. Many things still happening under the hood, I’ve fixed many bugs in past few days. Whole upload storage is being reprocessed. Once critical functions are established and 100% working, I’m going to work on improvements. Thanks for patience!

Hi Joe. How about making this a more public/visible poll? Somehow I dont think a lot of folks have seen this with only 16 votes in 24 hours.

Im trying to decide if its worth the trouble to me to only post a single image in each post in my threads so I can zoom in all the way. Ive decided that I really really dont like not being able to zoom in to full size image easily and quickly. Downloading each image or opening each image separately in a new browser window is a deal breaker. I just dont have the time or energy to do that. If I cant see details, it makes my images useless to me for future reference when Im tying to remember what I did and how well it worked, etc etc. The fine details really matter to me.

Its also making helping other people very problematic. All to often the details you need to see to provide good advice just dont show up well, or at all, on the first level of zoom.

Anyway, Im hoping that if more folks see that there may be a way to get the full zoom option back, and vote for it, maybe we can talk you into it? I really really hope?

Or - is this going to be a server intensive option that will raise costs too much? I sure hope not.

EDIT: @LemonadeJoe - you posted just before I did, so ignore this. I can wait

Not needed… You have already convinced me that we need the feature…

Is pinch to zoom possible or would that mean that each image is always loaded at full size?

I’m using iPad. When I click on image to show it full size (fit to screen zoom) then I can pinch it to zoom more.

In topic view there are only shown thumbnails to allow fast loading of topics. We have a feature available to serve pre-generated retina thumbnails at 1.5x and 2x DPI to devices that are capable to show it, but it is currently disabled, because it would almost double the size of our image galleries on the disk.

I still need to do some calculations of projected traffic growth and decide on our server requirements and corresponding financial backing for next years. There is always trade off between quality of images and disk storage requirements (more specifically the costs of storage). Uploads will always be kind of hurdle for us and subject to most compromises. Members will always want the most quality and fastest loading. But in reality that is not possible with limited CPU and HDD resources. The priority here is sustainability not the best quality though.

Thanx Joe!!

Im running windows and it still doesnt work for me if there is more than one pic in a post. It ony works if there is a single pic in the post.

How did you get it working for multiple pics in a single post?

As an example - here is a single pic. I can zoom in to the full size image with a second click.

In this post Ive put two copies of the same image - but I cant zoom in tot he same level as above. The second click just sends me to the next pic.

Well WTF? Now I cant zoom at all for some reason? Edit: never mind now its working

Zoom is feature called light box. Light box makes photo clickable, handles the black row in the bottom of the image that shows its name, size and resolution.

It takes a while (usually few seconds) after you upload your post to create lightbox (the delay depends on number of attachments and their size). Until lightbox is created, there is original image shown but it is not clickable and there is now black row in the bottom .

:scream: AAAAH! GrowFAQ?!:

Oops! That page doesn’t exist or is private.

After dismissing the “Do you want to enable live notifications” it seems to return with each login-- is this cookie-controlled?

Yes /growfaq is not part of the update unfortunately… There is a lot of work with updating source code for this feature to be compatible with latest forum. There were many of pressing issues that forced me to upgrade the forums and leave growfaq behind… I hope to reinstate it in few weeks / months…

Good news!

Avatars are now fully regenerated.

Please use hard reload in your browser (in Chrome it is CTRL+ click reload or shift + click reload)… How to hard reload different browser is described here.

Have you turned off Live notifications in your preferences?

What browser do you use?

Yes, had them off. Firefox 72.0.1 (64-bit)/Win7

I’ve thought about updating GrowFAQ to “2.0” by assembling some devoted members for a thorough cleaning-up/refreshing.

As a lurker & beginning member I used it MUCH more than now but it was more efficient than reading dozens of posts.

What does @TeamOG think about a GrowFAQ updating?

Probably a good idea, technology and knowledge is changing all the time. Maybe add something for leaf deficiency diagnosis, if its not there already, there are always people not sure what is going on with their plants and asking questions.
