I’m 42 but I’ll never forget that first wake-up call around 22; Got into an elevator & heard music from my youth that I like. Duran Duran? “Oh no. This isn’t good.”
fast-forward 20 years…
The music of my late teens is now “Classic” or “Throwback”.
WTF. “You gotta be kidding me…”
Which made me recall about 20-25 years prior, when I’d hear “Classic Rock” on the radio, and definitely from job sites. “Damn. I bet dudes who were 40 in the mid 90s didn’t appreciate being ‘Classics’ after only 10 #%&$^*() years…Shit.”
What’s up @Calyxander, hope things are going well up north there. I found this gem on my local college radio show…I tracked down the album and bought it - fantastic label, I might try some of their other discs:
Fuck yeah to @Calyxander for “Whatever Happened To Gus” My best, trips have been at MMW shows!!! But went full Neil this eve, apparently doing a cover of Bob’s “The Times They Are a Changin’” and couldn’t find it on the YouTube, I listened to this instead, thinking it was Neil covering Public Enemy: https://youtu.be/NeLdjvH57z4
I was onstage in '86 in the Spec’s Parking Lot with P.E. these are Houston, TX sirens you hear. Busta Rhymes got me there from Galveston, will always be obliged!!! https://youtu.be/bQ7gE7seeOA
This version has no H-Town sirens, my current version of Pete Rock’s “Shut 'em Down” is in haed drive, as till cool not my version sorry. And this, when the U.S. generally has some love because who knows, but I love Quest:: https://youtu.be/O3pyCGnZzYA
