Steve Goodman was a fabulous songwriter and performer. Clearly a guy who had a big heart.
If you are unfamiliar with the song Spoon River, it’s about the Spoon River Anthology, a novel/anthology about the fictional town of Spoon River. It’s short, with interweaving stories of the town’s inhabitants. I’ve never read anything else quite like it, and the song is every bit as touching as the book itself is.
