Louis Jordan, on hell yes! Did you know he was the largest selling black musician of the entire 1940s decade? Arguably the first crossover racial superstar, his records sold nearly as well amongst white audiences as black. I fucking LOVE Louis Jordan!

Someone else I love is Cab Calloway. This is a late hit for him from the mid 1940s, and you just know it’s all about sex.

IMO, Louis Jordan was the true primary progenitor of rock ‘n roll.
Remarkably, he very seldom gets the credit that he is surely due.

Interestingly, this song is titled both “Drunk” and “I Ain’t Drunk.” Same song, same artist, but once you hear the song, you’ll understand why.
