🎧 What Are You Listening To? (Part 3)

Interesting, Allman Bros interpreted as jazz. Makes sense since blues and jazz are so closely related.

Thanks for posting this!

I hope it’s okay to say this. When I was a music trader (yeah, for roughly 2 decades), I would often include in the introductions for my uploads a little quip like “If you find yourself listening to this and your toe is not at least tapping, I advise you seek medical attention immediately! You may be dead!” I’m quipping now.

Another little bit of my childhood, and Claudette was still singing with the band! Some of Motown’s finest!

Yes, with vocals by Dan Rather! I love this song! And there’s even a shout-out to our favorite weed. Pot leaf hopper

Okay, for the sake of full disclosure, I’m a life-long atheist, as was my mother and both her parents. My dad “saw the light” so to speak, after he met my mom I believe, but I don’t honestly know. I know when I was maybe 8 and absolutely insisted that I should go to Sunday school, he tried to reason with me every bit as earnestly as my mom about how foolish I was being. I lasted one day, and would have bailed sooner but nobody was there to pick me up. Thankfully they didn’t say I told you so. They were kind that way. They did ask me what I thought of it. I told them, I wondered what the hell I was thinking?!!!

In any event, I may be an atheist (or at least a dirt worshiping tree hugger), but I know exceptional fucking harmony when I hears it, and this is definitely it!

Thank you for this shining example of why I don’t watch the news. :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, one more.

@EpiKatz posted a colorized version of this great clip from the 1941 movie Hellzapoppin’. Thank you!

The musical lead in to the dance sequence featuring Slim and Slam displays just a bit of their musical genius, but the dancing is really the focus of this fabulous clip! It must have been so difficult for all those folks to get all the choreography right, and so exhilaratingly freeing to have gotten it right! Smokin’ great dancing!

Perhaps it’s my age, but I prefer the original B&W. Fuckin’ geezers! fi2NrFl
