Is there anybody out there? Roger Waters, perfect wake n bake tunes.
Sure, it’s a standard, but you don’t normally have a musical saw playing. Fuckin’ Crumb! The Cheap Suit’s version is probably my favorite, but the Skillet-Lickers recording is high up on my list too. And generally speaking I have a love for Jerry Reed as well as Roy Clark. I believe the Roy Clark clip is from the Porter Wagoner Show. Gotta love Porter’s Nudie suit! The show was on for an amazing 23 years.
Here’s a live version of this fabulously political song from Amsterdam, in 1978. What an amazing song writer. No surprise coming from such a musical family.
Some Reggae for a rainy Saturday in San Francisco:
Buju Banton-Destiny
Buju Barton and Garnett Silk-Complaint
Buju Banton-Hills and Valleys
Sizzla-Praise Ye Jah
Garnett Silk-Live at Reggae Sunsplash, 1994
One of the first electronic creators. Still an amazing piece. Played low it’s great for inspiration and study as it seems to activate the brain.
Depressed? We have drugs for that. Just shut it all down with our latest chemical labotomies: Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft and don’t think about anything of importance. (The reality of industrialized life.)
