I may have told this story here before…

I was chilling at home in Minnesota when I got a call from a friend. He and his date had finished dinner and were heading to the Dakota (jazz club) to check out a local trio. They asked if we wanted to join them there.

My gf and I met them and were enjoying conversation and the show, when a dapper figure in a distinctive cap walked up and tapped the keyboard player on the shoulder. They quickly switched spots, and I got to see Jack McDuff (aka Captain Jack or Brother Jack McDuff) sit in on a couple of songs! Apparently he was seeing a lady who lived in Minneapolis for a while and might pop up unexpectedly if you were in the right place at the right time!
