Hi and thanks for checking this post out. As you can tell by the title, I’m looking for a good brix refractometer without breaking the bank.
I recently learned that high brix plants (13+) create barriers to pests and disease, and would like to be able to monitor plant health a little better that way. I’ve seen some on Amazon with not the best reviews, brands that I thought would be fine. For example the Hannah 96801 digital refractometer. It retail’s around $200 and I’d like to stay around that price at the most if possible, but also want something that’s a quality piece of scientific measuring equipment.
Open to suggestions, advice, and critique! Much love
ive had really good success with the cheap analog ones on amazon. theyre probably $40? i like them more than the digital ones, especially on the lower end market. i use mine for beer

Thanks for sharing your advice and experience. I’m totally open for something working that’s cheaper. I’ll look into the analog types too, and admittedly I didn’t give them much of a chance at first and without good reason. Just figured they were cheaper so not as good, but that’s not always the case. Appreciate the suggestion and for taking the time share it. Much love

Been using the cheap refractometers for SG levels for initial Wort mixes and final alcohol measurements when distilling and they work great have yet to use the one that i have that also measure brix on my plants indoor and or garden they were only $20 a piece and i have compared them to my hydrometers for accuracy and yeah ive already ditched the later apart from one as i dont know how many ive broken.
the cheapies will work no sense going digital when you dont have to, plus there is a whole science behind actually increasing those brix levels so it just another tool no different than an ec meter
