Crop Steering with light spectrum!

So I have a bunch of these old 600 watt phlizon cob LEDs. I wasn’t getting the stretch that I wanted and so I decided to try just running the red light switch bulb before lights out to encourage stretch. I got the idea from Dr. Bugbee because he mentioned in a podcast that UV and far reds will encourage stretch.

I think it worked because look how lanky this gal is.

I was trying to get this one to stretch because the internodal spacing was too close for my liking. This gal might just be a real winner. She started flowering faster than I’ve ever seen a photo showing stigmas from like day one of flip. The terpene profiles a little sweet and sour barely a citrus reminds me a lot of Mexican weed from back in the '90s.

I was happy to find out that Philizon is making their newest lights also with spectrum control! If anyone in the forum owns this light I’d love to see them experiment also with the UV/Bloom dials to see if they get the same extra stretch that I saw.

I am running into a similar but different issue, I bought a variable spectrum Led 500w for my 4x4 tent on amazon, and dont get me wrong i love the light, but it came with 15 different setting choices and ZERO instructions on when to use what setting.

The choices I have, are Numbers 1-3 are called TRI, numbers 4-9 are called Veg, and numbers 10-15 are called bloom, But it does not have any sort of guide that says use this number on week one, this number on week two, etc.

Honestly I have just been leaving it on 8 the whole grow, but I think i could push better growth if i was using the right number at the right time, the problem is, i bought the light on amazon, so no real company to contact, and its a generic light made in china. Dont get me wrong its a great light and i love how it functions, i just wish i had some idea when to use what setting without spending months playing with different combos hoping i get it right.

COB lights are like 2700k light spectrum. and pretty high PPFD.

So. yeah. they’re great for flowering. the plant’s gonna absorb a lot of that energy, so you feed them more… worked well for mine.

Actually. I gave my sister a clone, and a 27w COB LED light to go with it. as it’s the best light for that size.

IR light gets a LOT of stretch between nodes.

UV is more to encourage trichome production. UVA will make stuff purple. UVB will make sugar leaves coated. too much kills ALL the fan leaves.

My light only has UVA that much I know, and IR.
