There aren’t any jobs or housing, the jobs that exist require reading, writing, professional experience and a degree but they sure need 150-200k low/no education middle eastern men every year (country of 9mil people).

Haha I was just having this argument with a local “green economy” type friend. He didn’t like me pointing out our oil companies are moving to sweden.
At least their government isn’t actively preventing resource extraction.
But the problem is that 19$ per ton of emissions apparently we subsidize (ignoring the fact they pay 40$/ton) but our own prime minister structured the carbon tax so he can take libyan oil, not pay extraction carbon tax, or carbon tax on shipping it across the world, and make more profit). And can block pipeline construction to further his own petroleum interests.

Just need to get the people to see it. In the US it’s like pulling teeth. I just spent 20 minutes trying to explain to an old coworker who makes $15/hr roofing that raising the minimum wage would increase his bargaining power with the boss. “Bro they raise the minimum you can go tell him you want 25 or you’ll go do literally anything else”(anything else is easier than roofing) his response “no I just don’t think they should make that much.”
