Well, I guess it’s good that I decided to cut back on beer, I’ve only had 1 six pack since New Year’s…
Not really a current event, however I thought that I would post this piece about the benefits
of gardening.
It was because of my desire to grow my own flowers over 50 years ago, that gardening became my lifelong hobby.

“As part of a $3m grant from the National Science Foundation awarded in 2016, Love and Wigginton have been testing advanced urine-treatment methods and investigating people’s attitudes about the use of urine-derived fertilizers.” “Love said collecting human urine and using it to create renewable fertilizers will lead to greater environmental sustainability.”
We wanted to do this experiment because, for years, we were asking this question: Would plants grow in lunar soil," [Ferl said] “The answer, it turns out, is yes.”
“We have identified a completely new signaling pathway that controls a plant’s response to physical contact and touch. Now the search for more paths continues.”
From knife cuts to animal bites to torrents of rain, every touch that a plant gets leads to a defensive molecular response – although these responses can be quite varied. They can lead to plants becoming more stress-resistant and flowering later in the year, for example."
NJ seems to be getting even worse than I thought it ever could.
So very sad to see this.
The team’s new research—initiated by Hugo’s discovery of galls lying near an ant nest—revealed a much more complex type of myrmecochory, one that combined the wasp-oak gall interaction with the edible appendage-ant interaction.
“First, we observed that, while these galls normally contain a fleshy pale-pink ‘cap,’ the galls near the ant nest did not have these caps, suggesting that maybe they were eaten by the ants,” says Deans. “Ultimately, this led us to discover that gall wasps are manipulating oaks to produce galls, and then taking another step and manipulating ants to retrieve the galls to their nests, where the wasp larvae may be protected from gall predators or receive other benefits. This multi-layered interaction is mind blowing; it’s almost hard to wrap your mind around it.”
I was reading this article this morning… this makes me angry.

Man this is late but, reopened? I got a whole $7 from that whole thing
The team believes that by “hacking” photosynthesis to release more of these electrons at earlier stages, the process could become much more efficient, which could help produce plants that are more resistant to sunlight or be replicated artificially to create renewable energy sources to help combat climate change, according to the statement.
Looking forward to end results. Thank you for sharing.
@Calyxander everyday I think about the catastrophic loss of bee’s around the world. We plant pollinators year round for the apiary down the road. Like everybody else… we do what we can.
I agree, A.I. should not be relied on as a quality source of information.
