DIY COB heatsinks

What have you guys used for heatsinks? Just looking for some ideas. This is NOT for grow purpose, but rather using them in my house I’m building.
I have 4 of the 120v COBs coming, and if they are decent I’m going to order approximately 15 more sets. And just kicking around what to use or build for the heat sink.
Keep in mind, not grow room lights. So they will not be on for hours at a time.

Figure out the watts you want to run and search on this website. They have a lot of options for lighting heatsinks. I have ordered a lot of these for COBS in the past.

Edit: MechaTronix is the brand I have used in the past for lighting. FYI

Unless you can get away with like a flat bar to connect them to each other, a premade heat sink is way better than anything DIY. I’ve done it, I’ve seen others do it, it’s just way impractical. Extruded heatsinks are pretty cheap for the bonus they give. Find one with a fan mount? Well that just saved a lot of work if you’re using a standard size.

I would just cut a piece of aluminum C channel to size. Big enough and it should do fine though repurposing aluminum heat sinks from cpus is also an option.

Active cooling? Well that cpu and fan left over from a Core II Duo or Athlon cpu might work.

Actually- if size and fans aren’t a problem, there is the Hyper 212 Evo. Easily one of the best PC air coolers and at $25 you really can’t complain.
