Where I grew up as a kid, it was kind of a rarity to find Canadian quarters in your change. Almost everyone I knew collected them if they came across one. I was just curious if the same was true of our neighbors to the North.
With the USA being attached to us and the flow of people both north and south there is no shortage of American coins floating around. Also now money is going away in place of plastic cards. Things sure are changing.
I love Canadian coins and bills, I have a couple toonies I kept from my last visit. I dig the design of the bills, whatever the plastic type stuff is I like better than the paper we have here
I remember growing up it being cool finding a Canadian quarter… then as I grew up, it was more like “they screwed me on my change”
unrelated and not canadian, but when i was young i built up a collection of coins from all over the world, i still have them to this day.
I have one too @anonymous4289 my wife worked at the Marriott for 20 years and constantly brought home unique bills and coins from all over the place.
@Coda i live in Niagara Falls (border city) and it’s almost an every day occurrence if you use cash primarily like I do, it sucks that you can’t claim conversion on change though as I’d build up a nice chunk , but I just use it like Canadian change tbch I barely even notice it anymore. Dimes, nickels, quarters constantly.
best pizza i ever had was on the NY side, middle of winter with everything else closed.
