Free Seeds & Free Clones Thread Vol. 4

Nice! I’ve got a couple mowers, but nothing like that. That’s a big ol deck for a push mower. Im on my feet enough that riding my equipment is a nice reprieve.

My tractor has a nice 6ft mower I sometimes use.
Usually I leave the backhoe attached. Because of that the 42" zero turn gets used.

Anyone know about diesel engines? Need to figure out why my Kubota tg1860 overheats after like 5 mins. Think it might be a gasket failure. But I’ve not messed with diesel engines.

Nice! Throw a Sauki behind that! Lol

I’ll never use a homeowner level mower again after my first Toro walk behind… graduated to a 60" gravely and couldn’t be happier. Lawn cutting time <2hrs now, used tobe almost 4hrs

Oh yeah it’s commercial. 5 speeds and reverse. 36" is actually the second smallest deck in commercial lines (32" is the smallest).

I’m concerned about the added walking, but mostly the turning with it cause of some knee issues. When you turn to come back across the lawn you have to swing it on the turn, squeeze the handles half way which is neutral, plant your legs and yank the machine back to straighten it out. There’s a reverse but it takes so much longer and can show in your lines.

Zero turns are where it’s at though and 42" is a nice deck size for residential. Get lit and mow the lawn with some tunes, just cruise.

Just be careful getting it on and off your trailer, hydros on walk behinds can be real wonky sometimes n pin you against walls when backing up

I could talk to ya all day bout lawn shit, started grunt work 7 years ago, now I fix all of our equipment and have my fert licenses but still end up doing literally everything lol

Got a tiny little badboy 42" for my house cause I can’t go back from zero turns :joy: my son’s 2 and a half and already a grown man wanting to use mowers and chainsaws n all the fun stuff daddy does

Sounds like a reseller potentially. I have knee issues too and am done with pivoting in that way.

I used to have to mow 4.5 acres around my house, but now that we’ve got rid of most of the brome and planted it to prairie, I’ve got like .5 acres to mow. It’s so much better. I’m not a fan of mowing. What a wast of my time and resources. Rather be hanging with my plants. :seedling::green_heart:

Love those bad boy mowers! Almost bought one, but the toro has the Kawasaki engine and was way cheaper. Definitely not as stout though. That kid will be mowing in no time.

Sulky? That’s what a Velke is and I’m definitely considering it. Yeah homeowner stuff feels really delicate to me. Using a push mower makes me feel like a kid playing with a bubble mower after doing landscaping on and off over the years.

You ever seen the Wright Standers? That’s what I would like to have but I can think of about 7,500 reasons that ain’t happening any time soon :grimacing:

Directly from TractorByNet…“Hose the radiator a few times from BOTH sides. Start across the top and work down, then blow it from BOTH sides with compressed air and REPEAT until water runs totally clean all over. Then start it and run until the radiator is FULLY dry (DO THIS STATIONARY!!). Tg’s don’t run hot normally. Put a tgermostat back in it too. The Bypass Hose isn’t blocked when there ISN’T a thermo so you loose coolant”.

I ain’t vouching for ANY of this, just trying to potentially help a Brother out. Good Luck, SS/BW…mister :honeybee: :100:

One of the benefits of not having a trailer yet! I’m going to start in my neighborhood where I can walk it over, save up and get a small trailer. Once I have the trailer I have a line on about 10 accounts in a neighborhood. They’re all cut by the same neighbor as a side hustle and he’s moving so they’re looking for someone.

That mower has a nice low center of gravity from the looks of it. Reminds me of the Hustler the way it sits.

Well a Velke would solve the problem of walking by 95% and save my knee some strain for sure. I have a buyer already lined up too in case I decide it just isn’t going to work. In that case I’ll take the profit and buy some hedge trimmers and just offer trimming. You should see the postage stamp of a lawn I have! lol I’ll probably mow in a little bit here with the Bobcat and it’ll be like 6 passes that are like 30 feet long. I rent but the landlord has the same opinion on a yard I do- screw mowing it.

I bet it looks funny pushing that thing across your yard. Like it covers 10% of the yard just sitting on it.

Thanks @misterbee. I actually already attempted all of that, and I believe even from the same site. I spent a whole day cleaning the radiator, I attempted to run it to dry but it overheats just running idle. And I’m actually not positive it’s over heating. Just assuming a thermal overload is tripping, because I have to wait 30mins to an hour before it will start again. It was an awesome mower when it worked, but it’s been lots of trouble. I’d still rather repair it than sell it. Those Diesel engines are so nice( when they work)

I cut the lawn, tarped the mower, smoked a cigarette, let the dog out and back in and ate a bagel since the comment I posted saying I might mow. It took like a minute and a half

Big distinction though- not pushing. If I had to push that mower I wouldn’t have bothered getting it! I chose a leisurely 3 out of the 5 speeds for the postage stamp

Lol. Nice. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have to mow.

Here’s the side yard I used to mow. Now it’s got a bunch of scrubby stuff an native plants coming up. This is it’s first year transitioning to prairie, so there lots of lettuce and other junk that’s early successional. But those will go away by themselves over the next year or 2. The backyard is huge and the front is pretty large as well. But they all look like that now. So all I have to mow is the 20-25ft perimeter around the house. I probably don’t need 3 mowers. 🤷

Sounds like if you get that velke you’ll basically just have a standing mower. :+1: Perfect.

Thank you @Oldtimerunderground
Me and Shaman are very appreciated.
Thank you a lot man.

Yeah that would take a minute lol 20-25 feet sounds much better!

That little bastard will make a huge difference. Plus it’ll let me expand a little further into the neighborhood here before I get the trailer.

Wow. That is a sweet attachment. You can just ride to the next job. Now you need to figure out how to adjust the speed on the wheels individually, so you can turn.

@JohnnyPotseed it is called a pole barn. I used to help my Dad build them after I retired. I built three here over the last 40 years and just call them barns

A little pricier than I anticipated but it’s a game changer for sure.

I got my card so I can grow 12 instead of 4 plants.

I wish they’d legalize at least for med use here. Grower anxiety is real af when the cops pull someone over in front of your house and you’re in late flower.
