Yeah, I mix around 70/30 Canna Coco and Perlite. The bricks are cheaper but also a bit more work to clean and buffer. With the Canna Coco I just mix with perlite in a big Rubbermaid and scoop out what I need, no rinsing, no messing around. Give it a good drain to waste with nutes before I plant in it.

ya i think im gonna go 60/40 or 50/50 to cut down costs. ill need 72 1 gallon pots filled
Just keep this in mind, you are going to have to feed them much more often the more perlite you add so think about your savings and if you will actually get any. Perhaps upfront but in the long run might end up costing more.
